US & Canada Tax School trains preparers in the two tax systems our students most often need at once — Canadian personal and corporate returns, and US federal individual returns.
We exist because of a gap that anybody who has hired a junior will recognise. People arrive holding qualifications and unable to prepare a return unsupervised. The theory was never the problem. Nobody had ever handed them a real file and let them work it.
Most online tax training is a video library. You watch it, you tick a box, you receive a certificate. Nothing in that process establishes whether you can actually do the work, which is why employers largely ignore the certificate.
Our courses are assessed. There are graded quizzes after each part, practical cases prepared in real tax software and marked by a practising accountant, and a final interview with an AI client who will only tell you what you think to ask. All assessments are sat under Safe Exam Browser.
It makes the course harder. That is the point — it is the only thing that makes the certificate worth holding.
Courses are organised around what arrives on a preparer’s desk, in the order it arrives. Where a topic is rare, we say so and spend the time elsewhere.
A certificate is a claim about somebody’s competence. Ours is issued only after graded assessments and a marked practical case, sat under proctoring.
An introductory course does not make anyone a specialist. We tell students plainly where the edge of the material is and when a file should go to someone more senior.
Tax law moves every year. Every course is updated annually and the updates are included for as long as a student holds the course.
