On-Hand Training

The part of the course that gets you hired.

Every student here is given access to real cases, worked in the real software. Not worked examples. Not screenshots of a program you will never open. Actual client files, prepared in the packages that Canadian and US practices run on.

It is the difference between a graduate who has watched twenty hours of tax and one who can be given a file on their first morning.

How a case runs

Five stages, and no shortcuts through any of them.

  1. 01

You are handed the file, not the answer

A real client engagement, reconstructed: slips, receipts, bank exports, an email chain, and at least one thing that is missing or contradicts something else. Nothing is labelled. No lesson is referenced. It arrives the way it arrives in practice.

  2. 02

You work it in professional software

Not a simplified teaching tool and not a spreadsheet — the same commercial tax preparation packages used in Canadian and US practice. You learn the software and the law at the same time, because in a job you will never learn them separately.

  3. 03

    You decide what applies

Which schedule, which election, which expense survives and which one gets disallowed. The judgement is the exercise. A course that tells you which module to open has quietly removed the only difficult part of the work.

  4. 04

An instructor marks it and tells you what you missed

Your completed return is reviewed by a practising accountant against a prepared answer key — not auto-graded. You get back the specific things you missed and why they matter, which is the part that actually changes how you work.

  5. 05

You face a client who does not volunteer anything

The final stage is a live interview with an AI client who answers only what you think to ask, forgets, hedges, and occasionally contradicts themselves. You run the intake and prepare on what you managed to gather. Most students discover here that their gap was never the tax law.

The software

You train on what the firms actually run.

Access to the tax packages is provided as part of the course — you do not need to buy licences to complete your training.

The software and firm partners for this programme are being confirmed and will be listed here shortly. Ask us on the contact page if you need to know which packages a specific course covers before you apply.

Every course includes it.

On-Hand Training is not an add-on or an upgrade. It is built into the Canadian and US courses alike, at no extra cost.
